Last week's finds with the 6mxi
Here are my finds for last week. I recently got permission on six fields, all pasture, this was from the first two. Nothing spectacular or very old. I was impressed with the 6mxi. I did dig a fair bit of big iron, but when you are digging plenty of good targets as well, I guess it's OK.

Really interesting site you are on Baz. Particularly like the collectible art nouveau earing, seems the stylised Eiffel Tower shape was in vogue in that era.

Re: Last week's finds with the 6mxi
Was searching for images of similar items to your earing . Would it be more accurate to call this 'art deco' '20s-'30s as it has a more streamlined shape? Perhaps specialist in the subject could shed more light... Perhaps the field has been used for fair, fete, parade or travelling circus? Large iron finds may give some extra clues. Look fwd to hear more!

Re: Last week's finds with the 6mxi
Hi Sandscan, you may well be correct regarding the earring I took a stab at Art Nouveau because of the flowing curves, I tend to associate Art Deco with angular shapes if you see what I mean. The photo makes it look far better than it really is, I'd rate it as very poor. I doubt if this field ever hosted any sort of event, it's very sloping. My thought would be that it was a popular place for winter sledging, that would be borne out by the higher find concentration near the bottom of the field.
Can't explain the iron though. Today I started the field next to it, no iron at all.

Yes, i didn't even know the difference between art nouveau and art deco till you mentioned it. Certainly you were right in the first place and it is a delightful find. Tip on sledding slopes is a good one too.

Latest finds from the six fields
Hi,
I've now detected all six fields. The first two fields were by far the most productive but the best finds came from field three. I started off finding pre decimal silver and then a Lizzie hammered threepence. The usual Georgian copper pennies were turning up along with a few military badges and buttons. I particularly liked the Army Cyclist Corp. button and the silver gilded hunting dog brooch. But best of all was a silver ring with all seven stones still in place. I guessed it was late Tudor, but that was wishful thinking. It has been identified as 18 century by the British Museum.
Field four produced just a few Georgian coppers. Field five just decimal coins.
Field six was the one I had really looked forward to. A map from 1780 shows a footpath running diagonally across it. It's long since disappeared. I found absolutely nothing, surprising and disappointing in equal measure.
All in all, it's been brilliant detecting and I've really enjoyed my time on these fields. The 6 mxi has been a real joy to use: this has got to be the best Cscope ever.
All the finds in the photos came from field three.
