Spoke to to Cscope today and they said that 6mx will got to the bitter end no loss in performance. The detector will play a little warbling sound every few seconds when batteries get low.
Hope that helps

Yes, we reckon on 30-40 hours on one set of AA batteries on the CS6MX-i (and CS4MX-i too). I know of one customer who got 55 hours ! Think that's a record ? (unless you know otherwise of course)

Re: 6mxi and battery life
Battery life is great with me also.
I use rechargeables and in my air tests they perform just as good as disposables.
I can go several weeks without having to recharge, even when getting a couple of hours detecting in most days in evenings.
Not so many places to go now and very busy at work so not so much detecting.
Notice also the batteries dont seem to run down when left stored either

Re: 6mxi and battery life
I bought 8 Eneloop 1900 mAh 1.2v rechargeable batteries which are still going strong after just one Full Charge and weeks of detecting, not sure how many hours but we've detected on many occasions from 8am to at least 6pm without hardly a break except for lunch and a drink.
